Leonel Riviere in Juana Mendez, Haiti

Dear Friends and partners in ministry,
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
This is a ministry update from the Biblical Christian Missionary Society (BCMS) work in Juana Mendez, Haiti, led by Léonel Riviere. Our ministry here focuses on evangelism in Juana Mendez, a mission in Capotille (including children’s ministry, home visits, and support for families), and we are providing monthly food donations for elderly residents of a home called the Good Samaritan in Juana Mendez. This elderly care includes monthly support with food donations, charcoal for cooking, and spiritual support through teaching and prayer. I regularly visit to minister to the elderly and a group of 17 children who depend on the home for their sustenance.

On behalf of the communities of Capotille and Juana Mendez, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your valuable contributions to this worthy cause. Thank you for your prayers, for promoting our well-being, and for providing the resources that enable us to preach Christ, make disciples, and help the poor within the Haitian community. Only we who are living in the heartbreaking conditions of our country can truly understand how difficult even the simple things can be now. We are so thankful for your loving generosity, and we believe it is an answer to prayer and it brings glory to God.
I would also like to share more details about our work in Capotille. Our group there consists of 22 individuals: 2 elderly members, 1 member who is disabled , adults, young people, and 2 children, and we are continuing to grow.
Currently, our ministry lacks a dedicated meeting place and adequate seating, which limits us in some ways. I know the Lord will provide to acquire these things, but for now, we are still going slowly and carefully. We gather every Sunday at 3:00 PM in the yard of Granville Mervilia and Emmanuel Pierre, who graciously lends us their chairs for our meetings.

To effectively carry out the work of evangelism and discipleship, the ministry I oversee needs to train others and our desire is to help to do this in and through local churches. This is a slow and challenging process, but we recognize the importance of investing in “faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2)
In the meantime, I have begun collaborating with a pastor named Rodelin Saint Fleur from Otwou, a small town about 30 kilometers from Ouanaminthe (Juana Mendez). He was also one of my theology professors. I continue to network with like-minded brothers who are committed to ministry, praying that the Lord will add to our team and provide more laborers alongside me on this side of the border. Truly, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” (Matthew 9:37)

We are planning a meeting soon with our director to connect here in Juana Mendez, perhaps for a couple of days. Lord willing, we will also meet soon with another pastor from Gonaïves, a trusted contact through our good brother and team member Job, who is from that town. Please pray for God to raise up more dedicated leaders for our ministry and for unity and a shared vision among the pastors we will be partnering with, Lord willing.
We are deeply grateful for your partnership. Please join us in prayer for the specific needs mentioned above and for our country. May the Lord help us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and unwavering support.
May our Lord bless you abundantly with His grace.
In Christ,
Léonel Riviere
